Mary Tarnowka, Executive Director AmCham Vietnam, HCMC

Mary Tarnowka serves as the Executive Director of AmCham Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City.

Prior to her time with AmCham Vietnam, Mary worked extensively to help U.S. businesses thrive in Asia.  As U.S. Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City from August 2016 to July 2019, she oversaw a period of tremendous growth in the U.S. comprehensive partnership, including two unprecedented visits by a U.S. president to Vietnam in 18 months.  Mary actively promoted mutual peace, prosperity, and people-to-people ties in central and southern Vietnam.  She particularly focused on strengthening the bilateral trade and investment partnership in the dynamic southern region.

Mary was a member of the senior Foreign Service, with decades of experience in Asia, including postings in Seoul, Delhi, Shanghai, and Taipei, as well as at the State Department’s China Desk and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.  Prior to joining the State Department, Mary worked as a Certified Public Accountant and Manager at KPMG’s International and High Tech Tax Division in San Francisco.

Mary has two daughters, one who lives in San Francisco, and one who lives with her and attends high school in HCMC.

NGUYEN LAN ANH, Managing Director  Endeavor Vietnam

As founding managing director of Endeavor Vietnam since 2018, Lan Anh leads a team that is building a network of high impact entrepreneurs in Vietnam that is a part of Endeavor’s global network, which rigorously selects, mentors and scales the most promising, high-impact entrepreneurs in 34 countries and a number of underserved U.S. cities.

Prior to joining Endeavor, Lan Anh was the executive editor of Forbes Vietnam, a monthly magazine published in Vietnam under a licensing agreement with Forbes Media LLC, from 2012-2018. She was responsible to setting up the magazine in Vietnam, and as head of editorial department, she architected and oversaw content development, as well as its events and conferences programming. She worked with Forbes for more than 10 years since 2017, first as a contributing editor for Forbes Asia, and later as editor of Forbes Vietnam until 2018. She is now an advisor to Forbes Asia and Forbes Vietnam.

As a business journalist, Lan Anh had over 15 year experiences covering business and economics in South East Asia. Before joining Forbes in 2007, she has reported for several Vietnamese and international publications, including the New York Times and Financial Times.

Lan Anh has a master degree in journalism from Boston University under a Fulbright scholarship that she was awarded in 2003-2005. In 2015, she was awarded the Eisenhower Fellowship and took part in a Women’s leadership program in the US.

Irene Ohler founder of LightPath Leadership, is passionate about leadership development and women’s empowerment. Irene has more than 20 years of international experience in HR development, having worked with Fortune 500 corporates and governments in Europe, China, Brazil, New Zealand and Vietnam as an executive coach and consultant. Since 2014 Irene has organised almost 30 Women's Storytelling Salons in Hanoi, HCMC as well as tailored events for Flinders University's Women's Leadership Development programmes.
